The Pluto Exhibit
After Larry Bird, Pluto may be our biggest local celebrity. The mythical god of the underground became the symbol of the French Lick Hotel’s mineral water. Owner Tom Taggart bottled the water and sold it nationwide for many years with the billing, “America’s Physic.” We have a great photo op with a big golden Pluto.

Pluto Water was so famous it was featured on the front cover of the September 1936 issue of National Geographic!
The image of Pluto was used on everything from menus, postcards, and soaps for guest rooms to cuff links, clocks, and toy trains. The museum currently has the original, full sized Pluto figures on loan from the French Lick Resort.
